About Our School
JK Wing Chun Academy is a high integrity martial arts school focusing on self discipline and personal development. The Academy combines a mix of traditional teachings, and contemporary applications to involve and inspire the students. Our programs are suitable for men, women and children of all ages and all levels of ability from Beginner to high level.
All classes are led by experienced instructors who meet working with children requirements, and who themselves have a passion for the martial arts. Training is systematic and involves levels of learning and a focus on 'mind work' to achieve correct physical postures for effective self defence, no matter what your size.
Our Mission is to develop our students on all levels - Mind, Body and Spirit. We aim to give them the strength and flexibility of Mind and Body to lead confident and successful lives.
Wing Chun comprises of three forms i.e. Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, Biu Gee, and each form has a theory of its own. In application, if one can combine the three forms together, Wing Chun will become a system witch is practical and capable of deriving a highly destructive force.

Wing Chun for Teens
With teen abduction, sexual abuse, schoolyard bullying, and sports injuries in today's headlines, parents have good reason to worry about their teen's safety. It is virtually impossible, however, leading the busy, modern lives that parents and teens do, to provide responsible supervision for the teens 100% of the time. That's why it is vital that teens be made aware of certain dangers and learn to look after themselves when trouble strike.
Wing Chun kung fu is an excellent system of self defence for teens. It is easy to learn and enormously practical. Designed by a woman, its movements are based on skill rather than size or strength, meaning a smaller person can develop the ability to overcome a larger attacker. All of the techniques are designed for realistic self defence situations rather than being acrobatic or fanciful. Some examples might be: repelling the blows or kicks of the school bully, breaking the grip of a would-be abductor, or protecting one's face or body in a rugby tackle.
Principal Instructor of the Academy, Janos Konya believes that Wing Chun is an excellent hobby for children aged from five years up because it combines a number of benefits. The primary benefit is that students learning Wing Chun greatly improve their confidence, the confidence itself forming a strong deterrent in dangerous situations. Other benefits such as improved self discipline and concentration can assist academic study, and mixing in classes with other like-minded teens strengthens social skills.
